It's been two weeks since Israel stopped shelling the village and Ali Fakhreddine returned home to clean up the mess they left behind.
He paused when he got to the fountain that overlooks the garden.
"I thought that the odds are very slim of there being a cluster in the birkeh especially that the birkeh is covered and the Army had supposedly cleared our garden," he said.
But he decided to be careful and started to blow on the leaves to expose the birkeh bottom before using the broom to sweep.
"Sure enough, there it was."
It had been completely covered in fallen leaves.
Many are thankful that he was there to catch it first.
"Imagine if my parents or the maid went in there to clean. There would be a leak in the birkeh now." |
